WP3: How can city logistics be redesigned in the future and what effects will this have on the overall mobility concept in cities?
In this project, IfV is working together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research (FhG-ISI) to develop solutions that will help make delivery traffic more sustainable. For this purpose, the agent-based traffic demand model mobiTopp that was developed at IfV will be used to simulate orders placed by people and the delivery traffic generated by them. The results of the model allow a versatile analysis of delivery traffic in the model region. For example, additional traffic caused by undeliverable goods can be quantified and their emission effects analyzed. Furthermore, the model allows for the analysis of the effects of developments in e-commerce on passenger and commercial traffic. The model also forms the basis for various scenarios: For example, the possible applications of micromobility in city logistics will be worked out and electrification potentials in delivery traffic will be analyzed.
